Step Up For Teachers!

Homeschooling is no joke – and parents have learned this firsthand as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is time to show our CSD teachers and staff just how much they are appreciated!

There aren’t enough words of praise for our educators who are rising to the enormous challenges that they are facing this spring.  They are creating online content while also trying to manage their own families’ needs.  What better way to show the love than to make a gift to DEF in honor of a favorite teacher or staff member. 

As in the past, you can leave a tribute message for your honored teacher but this year, since we can’t see our teachers in person, we encourage you to shoot a short video (phone videos are acceptable) with your tribute message. Once you make your donation, you will receive directions about completing your tribute video, or if you prefer to leave a written tribute, you can do that too. Your tribute video or message will be posted on our website at www.decatureducationfoundation.org/tributes, and we will send the honored teacher or staff person a link so they can view it. You can read the tribute messages and see videos HERE.

In addition, we will deliver the sign of your choice: “We Step Up for Teachers” or “Congratulations Class of 2020” to your City of Decatur address (or arrange pick-up if you live elsewhere).

These tributes help fund programs like Teacher Innovation Grants, which support creativity in the classroom.

To summarize:

1. Make your gift below (for each $25 donated we will post one tribute message which can be generic such as The family of John Smith honors his RMS teachers OR personalized The family of John Smith honors Julia Roberts -Thanks for being awesome).

2. Once your gift is made you will receive a confirmation screen with a link to complete your tribute message – you must fill out a separate form for each tribute message.

3. You do not have to make each donation separately – that is you can donate $100 at once and complete four tribute forms for four posted tributes.

4. If you would like to do a tribute but cannot make a donation, please email info@decatureducationfoundation.org

Since all spring PTA events were cancelled for our schools, we know that there won’t be as much funding for PTAs to support teacher grants. So your tribute gifts will be even more important in helping us fund more grants in the 2020-2021 school year to make up the gap.
