The community gathered for a wonderful winter morning at Westchester Elementary to experience the culmination of an arts infusion project DEF funded in partnership with the Westchester Elementary PTA. The comprehensive project “Our Well” was an expedition about water and its importance as a resource, and incorporated lessons in music, art, math and social studies. The project allowed students to participate in every stage of the project from conception, design to production that resulted in an outdoor sculpture by the newly named (by them) Wolfpack Creek. DEF funded this pilot arts infusion project through the Zara Yee Hawthorne Memorial Fund, honoring Zara’s love for the arts.
