Real-Life Reads

Oakhurst third-grade teacher Stephanie Tolentino believes the books we read as kids shape our understanding of the world in a way that can last a lifetime. With a DEF grant, she was able to purchase books for her classroom library which feature a variety of authors and characters that more aptly represent the diversity of our community and the world. Tolentino believes these new reading materials will help promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and beyond.
