Through Joe’s Fund (Decatur Education Foundation’s Behavioral Health Fund), we are offering a community-wide event on Suicide Prevention on Monday, Feb. 24th from 6-7:30pm at the Decatur High School Media Center (the entrance is near the bus loop on Commerce Drive).
Speakers will include Erin Harlow-Parker and Dr. Kimberly Jones. Ms. Harlow-Parker is an advanced practice registered nurse and has worked in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry for more than 35 years. She is a manager of behavioral and mental health programs for Strong4Life/CHOA. She also speaks about her personal experience of losing a loved one to suicide. Dr. Jones is the District Lead Counselor for City Schools of Decatur and has been a CSD counselor for 18 years. She is also a trained facilitator of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST).
Please note, this event is intended for adults. Attendees do not have to be parents of CSD students – this is open to the Decatur community.
