Benjamin Bailey is receiving the Pollack Family Scholarship. Established in 2021, this multi-year scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has shown leadership in the classroom or community, demonstrated resiliency in the face of obstacles, and exhibits a desire to challenge themselves academically.
Yana Batra is receiving the Imani Thompson Twine Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a female member of the senior class who exhibits the qualities that defined Imani: leadership, academic excellence, perseverance, maturity, love for others and the ability to impact all types of people.
Bridget Blanchard is receiving the Han C. Choi Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a student who has overcome significant challenges with determination, faith and resiliency, qualities that were characteristic of Han. The student must demonstrate leadership, service, academic excellence and integrity.
Kayla Evans is receiving the Lawrence and Gertrude Paxton Memorial Scholarship. This multi-year award is given to a student who demonstrates integrity and a strong work ethic, resilience in the face of obstacles and a drive to improve their community with a focus on social welfare. Preference is given to students attending a historically black college or university.
Established in 2022, this multi-year scholarship was created by the McNally family and is given to a student who demonstrates integrity, a strong work ethic, and is involved in the community. Preference is given to a student who intends to study engineering, science, accounting or finance.
Maya Goren is receiving the Mary Elizabeth Brown Wilson Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a DHS senior who demonstrates ongoing involvement in community service, achievement that reflects a commitment to education, and resilience in overcoming adversity.
Eric Hanson is receiving the Rachel Britain Memorial Scholarship. The Rachel Britain Memorial Scholarship, founded in 2020, honors the life and legacy of Rachel Britain, an active and engaged member of the Class of 2008 at Decatur High School who passed away in 2019. The award is presented to a student who has shown a commitment to community service, demonstrates kindness, compassion, and an interest in bringing people together.
Micayla Hurdle is receiving the Jeanne Bellville Taffs Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a female student who is well regarded by her peers – the kind of person they would describe as kind to all, warm-hearted, nonjudgmental and friends with a variety of students – qualities that were all characteristic of Jeanne Bellville Taffs.
Shawn Irons is receiving the Thomas Hauk Memorial Scholarship. This award is given to a graduating senior who embodies Thomas’ personal qualities of courage, friendship and peace making.
Demi Jardine is receiving the Sarah Lynn Woolf Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is presented to the female student who exemplifies high scholarship, achievement in a variety of endeavors, and a positive approach to whatever life brings – attributes of the late Sarah Woolf, a DHS student who died of bone cancer in 2002.
Mekhi Lloyd is receiving the Trinity High School Class of 1965 Scholarship. This award is awarded to an African-American student who demonstrates leadership skills, a strong work ethic, a determination to achieve and a commitment to furthering their education.
Sam McCrosky is receiving the Bill Mealor, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a male student who exhibits tenacity, determination, spirit, and enthusiasm in the face of adversity – all qualities that were characteristic of Bill Mealor, Jr.
Morgan Miles is receiving the Kennedy Segars Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship is given to honor the life of Kennedy Segars, and is awarded to a senior who demonstrates leadership and a commitment to community service.
Isabelle Mucha is receiving the Decatur Rotary Foundation Scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship must demonstrate a strong commitment to community service.
Jacob Rachell is receiving the Harry Edwards Class of 1960 Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship, named for Harry Edwards, whose plane was shot down in Vietnam, recognizes a student who exemplifies citizenship, school spirit, honesty, integrity, and self-discipline – character traits that Harry demonstrated as a student and an officer.
Dorothy (Dolly) Rodi is receiving the Gladding Family Scholarship. Recipients of this scholarship are hard-working, service-minded, focused on bettering humanity, unselfish, outgoing, fair and who plan to attend a four-year liberal arts college/university.
Ivie Wildman is receiving the Patrick Family Scholarship. This scholarship, established in 2002 by members of the Patrick family, is one of the largest scholarship available to DHS students. Recipients are exceptional students whose selection is based on accomplishments, academics, and potential to reach academic goals.
Henry Willis is receiving the Blue & Gold Alumni Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a senior who demonstrates entrepreneurial and leadership skills and has given back to their community through service.
Kai Zokovitch is receiving the Madison Lewis Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship honors the life and legacy of Madison Lewis and is awarded to a graduating senior who participated in DHS athletics and exemplifies the best of Bulldog spirit. The recipient demonstrates leadership, good sportsmanship, a strong work ethic on and off the field, and serves as a role model to teammates.
