DEF Awards Scholarships to CSD Graduates and Teachers

Thanks to the generous donors in our community, Decatur Education Foundation (DEF) awards college scholarships to graduating Decatur High School seniors and to CSD teachers seeking to further their own education.

The first DEF college scholarship was awarded in 2003, and the program has grown tremendously since.  On May 21, 2026, DEF awarded scholarships totaling $149,000 to 23 recipients.  Twenty scholarships were awarded to graduating DHS seniors and three were awarded to CSD teachers. 

DEF scholarships celebrate not only academic excellence, but also resilience, kindness, and a commitment to community service. DEF is pleased to have the opportunity to honor these students for their hard work and to support their post-secondary goals.
