Proceeds from auction will boost youth literacy

Nearly 100 people placed bids to spend an hour with an acclaimed author during the Decatur Book Festival September 2-4, raising more than $1,100 for youth literacy in Decatur.

The top bidders (and their guests) will take their seats at one of the coveted barrel tables outside the world-famous Brick Store Pub to chat with:

• Mary Kay Andrews (“Summer Rental,” “Hissy Fit,” “Savannah Blues” and more).
• Clyde Edgerton (“A Night Train,” “The Bible Salesman,” “Walking Across Egypt” and more)
• Lauren Myracle (“Shine,” “Ten” and so many, many more)
• Joshilyn Jackson (“Backseat Saints,” “gods in Alabama,” “Between, Georgia” and more)
• Susan Rebecca White (“A Soft Place to Land,” “Bound South”)
• Andisheh Nouraee (“Americapedia”)
• Hal Needham, world-famous stuntman, director of “Smokey and the Bandit” and “Cannonball Run,” and now author of “Stuntman!”
