Honor Your Senior and Favorite Teacher(s) with a Class of 2012 Yard Sign

Looking for a great way to recognize and thank your favorite teachers? Consider a donation to Decatur Education Foundation in their honor. Each teacher will be notified and you will get a Class of 2012 yard sign. All it takes is a $20 donation to honor one teacher or $50 to honor three teachers. Either way, you get that yard sign!

Order and pay by check or cash at the DHS Main Office. Or, pay ONLINE here at DecaturEducationFoundation.com. Just click on the “Donate Now” link to the right of this page and make your payment with a credit card. It’s fast, easy and secure.

Be sure to include student’s name, name of teacher(s) being honored and address where you would like the yard sign delivered. Signs will be delivered in May.

Help Wanted: DEF Seeks Part-time Administrative Assistant

The Decatur Education Foundation seeks a dynamic, organized, self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills to support the executive director.  Must have strong computer skills, attention to detail, the ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse constituent base.

Experience with volunteer management a plus, experience with Etapestry database, WordPress content management system and Constant Contact a plus.

Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator/Administrative Assistant

20 hours/week, located in downtown Decatur
40-45 weeks per year  •  Hours: 9-2 p.m. / 4 days per week
Salary: $15/hour

Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes Benefits DEF

The Decatur Education Foundation is grateful to be a recipient of proceeds from the 2011 Decatur Holiday Candlelight Tour of Homes. The money will be applied to our Tools for Success fund which includes two programs:

1. Scholarships that award laptops to graduating high school seniors in need who are heading off to college (pictured below: Decatur High School seniors, class of 2011, receive laptop computers from Decatur Education Foundation.)

2. Connecting Families program that provides computer training, laptops and internet connectivity to families in need so they can support their children’s education at home.

Is DEF’s Executive Director Smarter than a 5th Grader?

Come on out to a great event for a great cause and find out!  Wednesday, February 9 at 7pm at the Decatur High School Auditorium.  Gail joins local celebrity contestants including Decatur Mayor Bill Floyd and Decatur High Principal Lauri McKain.  Proceeds will allow Glennwood Academy’s current 5th graders to provide a legacy gift to the new 5th Avenue Academy.  Get more information here. Walk for Lunch Program to Benefit DEF

An exciting new program promoting health and fitness is coming to Decatur this May and for each participant Decatur Education Foundation will receive $1.

WALK FOR LUNCH is a lunch hour walking program designed to encourage communities to walk 1, 2 or 3 miles, 2 days a week, along planned walking courses. Each walker can receive a healthy lunch each day.

*Lunch is optional.
